Supporting Carers with Parking Access
As more people choose to receive care in their own homes, the role of professional carers has never been more vital. Many carers visit multiple homes daily, often under tight schedules and in areas where parking is difficult or restricted.
Over the last year, I have been campaigning for a dedicated parking badge system for carers, something that already exists in other cities. This would allow carers to park near clients’ homes without fear of fines, or disruption to their care schedules.
The proposal has been submitted to the Council and once passed, I will be working with relevant committees to bring forward a workable scheme. I intend to keep demanding further progress until we have a solution in place that recognises the essential work done by carers.
