Community Development

Growing up in Donnybrook, I have witnessed the city’s remarkable development and expansion. However, with this progress come new challenges and risks faced by the communities and villages within the city’s boundaries.

These villages are at risk of losing their unique identity and becoming mere commuter routes. The neglect of public spaces, local businesses, and essential services undermines their cultural heritage and vibrancy.

As your elected councillor, I am committed to addressing these concerns by prioritising the empowerment and revitalisation of our villages. Strategic planning and collaboration with local communities are essential to preserving their distinct character and fostering a sense of pride among residents.

Investing in vibrant public spaces will create inviting areas for communities to gather, promoting a sense of togetherness and recreation. Supporting local businesses and services will boost the local economy, generate job opportunities, and help sustain these communities.

As your representative, I pledge to work tirelessly to safeguard these community amenities, ensuring that our villages thrive as integral parts of Dublin’s dynamic landscape. By championing their growth and preserving their cultural heritage, we can create a future where urban development and cultural preservation go hand in hand, making Dublin a city that truly flourishes in its diversity and inclusivity.

Housing

Housing remains a critical issue across the country, and as we work to increase supply, it is essential that new developments align with the specific needs of our community, particularly in terms of social and affordable housing.

As your elected councillor, I am committed to supporting the government’s efforts to deliver appropriate social and affordable housing. I will continue to actively engage with residents, community organisations, and local experts to ensure that these developments meet the needs of our population while preserving the unique character of our area.

To protect the existing ambiance of our neighbourhoods, I will advocate for smart urban planning that considers the current landscape and architectural aesthetics. This includes supporting low-impact designs, integrating green spaces, and taking measures to minimise traffic congestion and environmental impact.

Furthermore, I will work to ensure that new housing developments enhance our community’s well-being. By collaborating with developers and the government, I aim to include recreational facilities, community centres, and public gathering spaces, fostering a sense of unity and social interaction.

A key priority for me is ensuring that social and affordable housing options are accessible to both long-term residents and newcomers, promoting diversity and a sense of belonging within the community.

As your councillor, I will champion a transparent and accountable development process, ensuring the community’s voice remains central to decision-making. By fostering open communication and cooperation, we can support the government in delivering housing solutions that truly serve our community’s needs while preserving the cherished character of our area. Together, we will build a brighter, more inclusive future for all.

Mental Health

One of my key priorities as an elected councillor is to advocate for a comprehensive positive mental health messaging campaign. Recognising the critical impact mental health has on our community’s well-being, such an initiative is vital to fostering a supportive and compassionate environment for all residents.

This campaign will focus on promoting awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging open conversations about mental health. It aims to reach all segments of the population—from schools and workplaces to public spaces and community centres—ensuring that mental health support is accessible to everyone.

To implement this campaign effectively, I will work to ensure that the council allocates adequate funding and resources to develop engaging and relatable content. This will include public service announcements, posters, social media campaigns, and educational materials that convey positive messages and emphasise the importance of mental health care.

Collaboration with mental health professionals and local organisations will be a priority. Their expertise will help ensure the messaging aligns with evidence-based practices and provides valuable resources for those seeking support.

By working in partnership with the council, I am confident that we can create a positive mental health messaging campaign that will foster understanding, empathy, and support throughout our city. Together, we can build a more resilient and mentally healthy community, ensuring a brighter and healthier future for all.
