Smarter Traffic, Not More Congestion
Some road changes have improved safety, others have made life harder. I'm calling for a full review to fix what’s not working.

Common-Sense Approach to Traffic Management
Over the past year, there have been major changes to traffic layouts and road access, both in our local area and across the city centre. Many of these changes aim to make Dublin a safer, more walkable and cycle-friendly city, and I welcome those efforts. But not all have been well thought-out, and some have had unintended adverse consequences for residents and road users.
I have heard from many constituents about the impact of certain new layouts, especially where changes have led to unnecessary congestion, longer commute times, or increased difficulty accessing local shops, schools and services. While some schemes have improved safety and movement, others have clearly caused frustration, without delivering real benefits.
I am calling for a comprehensive traffic management review, one that looks honestly at what is working and what is not. We need data and feedback from all road users, pedestrians, cyclists, bus passengers, and motorists, to understand the full impact of recent changes.
In the year ahead, I will be advocating for practical adjustments where needed, including the reversal or redesign of changes that are not delivering. I will continue to push for a balanced approach to mobility that puts safety and sustainability first but also recognises the need for realistic access and flow in a growing city like Dublin.
